Katie Liljenquist is on the faculty of the Marriott School of Management in the Department of Organizational Leadership and Strategy. As a National Science Foundation fellow, she earned her Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, where she was an award-winning professor of Negotiations in their MBA program. She now teaches Negotiations in the MBA program at BYU, voted Teacher of the Year three times by the graduating students.  Katie is married to an endocrinologist and serves on the executive board of a 50+ employee private medical practice, including oversight of a regional medical lab and FDA-approved pharmaceutical research center. She provides specialized negotiation training to physician groups (earning evaluations of 5.9/6.0), as well as Fortune 500 companies, professional women’s organizations, and attorneys. She has authored multiple articles in Harvard’s Negotiation newsletter, as well as the Harvard Business Review blog. Her research focuses on the psychology behind decision-making in the domains of ethics, power, and influence. She has published in the premier scientific journal, Science, and was recognized by the New Times as proposing one of the most innovative scientific ideas of the year.

What you can expect from the course:

  • Reprogram yourself to focus on what you are worth instead of what you need.
  • Apply strategies to level the playing field between men and women.
  • Identify gender-based communication patterns that sabotage women's efforts; replace them with simple, yet effective, tactics that expand your ability to influence others.
